Staycation!

Coined a couple of years ago and made all the more popular even now by the web and the economy as the spending of vacation time in one's own backyard - literally.

The rise in fuel prices, overcrowded airports and fewer flights to key areas, not to mention our fledgling economy has given rise to an even greater emphasis on just what we have (that is very tangible) within our own property lines. Why wouldn’t people give their vacation dollars to their most secure asset and be able to enjoy it not for two weeks (and then it’s gone) but all year and then some!

Statistics: 1. As many as 50% of Americans are choosing to forego formal vacations this year and are coming up with some very creative means of transforming their current homes (outdoor areas) into entertainment centers for family and friends. 2. AAA states that it costs $244/day just for 2 people to eat and sleep. Add a couple of kids, airfare and event tickets, and a two-week vacation tops $10,000.
